What's Happening in January

At the council meeting on the 10th they will consider a recommendation from the feasibility task force concerning the “stay/go” question we have been pondering.  This recommendation will be printed in the Annual Report that will be available in your mail boxes January 15.  The agenda items, including the recommendation will then be discussed and questions answered during the adult class at 9:15 on the January 22nd, with the annual meeting beginning at 9:15 on January 29th.  Your attendance on each of these Sunday’s is coveted by your church council.

TCI Survey Results

Thanks again to all who participated in the TCI survey.  The results are in and in the event you missed our congregational unpack on May 8th, here is a summary of the results and an opportunity to continue to help.  The incredible participation rate from our congregation translates to a very high confidence rate in the results and this is extremely important to the leadership team in making recommendations for our future at Lord of Life.

The Transforming Church Index measures the relative health of a church through a review of 5 primary areas and 15 scales within those areas.  The overall summary is displayed below for Lord of Life.  Just a couple of comments about the summary report. All responses are rated on a scale of 1 – strongly disagree to 5 – strongly agree, with the exception of the scales of innovation and relationships.  The % rank column represents a percentile against the normative average from TAG’s 15,000 database of surveys completed, % negative column captures the percentage who replied with a score of 1 or 2. The SIG column is an attempt to identify those scales/areas whose responses represent significant variances both positive and negative.  The far right columns tabulate the congregation’s average scores as compared to National Averages maintained by TAG.

The pyramid above shows those scales which ranked high in the response rate from the survey participants.  These represent sources of strength and identity for the congregation.  If you have any questions about the results, please see any member of the Feasibility Study Task Force, Mike Donohue,  Jon Dienst, Rick Krueger or Cheryl Barr.

The Feasibility Task Force and Church Council have decided to take a closer look at some of the areas where you, the congregation, told us some additional improvement could be realized.  We have engaged TAG to conduct a series of focus groups on June 1st and June 2nd.  These will be held at the church and at various times of the day and are open to everyone, whether you completed the TCI survey or not.  Through these focus groups, we hope to engage you in a deeper discussion about these scales and our questions concerning our facilities debate of STAY or GO!  We have established 6 separate groups, based on certain demographics including length of involvement with the church, presence of children or youth in your household, etc.  We hope to have as many as 8 in each group, so as to provide a comfortable environment for everyone to share their respective thoughts.  The sign up sheets, located in the narthex at church, allow you to identify if you are available one or both dates, as well as which identified groups might apply.  We ask for one representative per household and the sign up period ends Wednesday, May 25th.   THANK YOU in advance for your continued partnership in this process.  We believe that if we have the same high level of participation in these focus groups, the Task Force will be in a good position to provide recommendations to the congregation in the very near future.

As our Task Force continues to complete their work, we believe it is time again to reach out to all who are members or attend Lord of Life regularly and ask you to share your opinions with us.

The Transforming Church Index is a tool our church is using to gather input on a variety of topics. Our goal is to have as many members and attendees, 15 years and older, take the survey.  Every member of your household should complete their own survey.  You can take it on-line by following the instructions included in our weekly worship bulletins or the information forwarded with the letter that was sent to your home. If you have misplaced this information, please contact the office and Dianne would be happy to provide you the information.  You have until 7:00 a.m. on Monday, April 11th to complete the survey.

If you’d prefer, you can fill out a paper survey by picking one up in the narthex and return it to the church office no later than Monday, March 28th

We promise to be ever vigilant in our effort to obtain 100% participation by our congregation.  This is one of the most important opportunities to provide your individual input into how you experience the ministry at Lord of Life.  Your input is completely confidential however this information becomes valuable only if we hear from all of our members and attendees.  We will provide the congregation with the results of the survey on May 8th at a meeting between services.
