Pastor John Sorenson

Pr. John

Pr. John

John was born and raised in Iowa, graduated from Dana College before attending Wartburg Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa. John and his wife Mona moved to their first congregation in Rural Nebraska after his ordination in 1975. In 1981 John was called as a mission developer to Colorado Springs. Dedicated core members along with a fast growing community led to three building projects and a membership of 1200 during 22 years of ministry. Lord of Life, a congregation looking to grow and expand ministry, issued a call in 2003 and John and Mona returned “home.”

John received training in the Bethel Bible Series and trained congregational teachers. He initiated and implemented the Stephen Ministry Program while in Colorado. Along with annual continuing education experiences, John was able to experience a third world country while visiting Guyana and follow Luther through Germany while on sabbaticals.

John and Mona have a daughter in Dubuque and a son in Cresco, Iowa. They have four grandchildren. Golf, bicycling, family, grandchildren, travel keep the Sorenson’s young and content. You might hear him cheering on some of his favorite teams: The Hawkeyes, the Yankees, or the Broncos.
