The Youth Group is a very active group that has a lot of servant projects planned not only for the greater Dubuque community but outside our community as well.

Some of our high school youth went to San Antonio, Texas this summer for the national youth gathering, Cruzando.  Below are picture and comments the travelers had.

Below the Cruzando pictures are other pictures of our youth enjoying themselves at a lock-in.

"My Journey with Jesus"  As I sat on a plane for two hours, on a plane that didn't have a pilot, I thought to myself; how is this trip going to change my life, my outlook on the world, and my faith as a Christian.  As I experienced my faith journey, I found myself opening up to the world around me and all the people that suffer in this world.  I found that I am lucky to have what I have and I shouldn't take as much for granted as I do!  I found Jesus in a way that I never have before.  I found that he has a calling for all of us, a journey till the end of our lives to find what we are called to do as friends and family in Christ.

The Youth Gathering in San Antonio was not only a great experience but loads of fun.  It was

awesome to see all the youth gathered together to express their faith in God.  The music was

great and the sermons were awesome.  The theme for the week was "Cruzando: Journey with

Jesus".  Cruzando is Spanish for "crossing".  The daily themes focused on grace, resurrection,

following Jesus and crossing boundaries that keep us alienated from each other and God.  We

learned about the dynamic of faith which is life lived in the tension and turbulence of God's

ways colliding with the ways of the world.  Some of the things that I enjoyed the most and

that were meaningful to me were the team building exercises, the messages we heard

everyday, servant events, and spending time and hanging out with other youth and chaperones.

There is only one word to describe what spending four days with 16,000 Lutheran youth and adults excited about Jesus, is like.  And that word would be AWESOME!!!  Our days and sometimes very late nights were filled with great musical performances, moving speakers, worship, praise, dancing, and lots of fun.  I feel very priveleged to have spent the week with such a great group of youth.  It was great to see the enthusiasm and fire in their eyes as they brainstormed, as a group, what they would like to see in the future for our youth at Lord of Life.  Thank you to all of the congregation for supporting us in this experience and also for allowing me to be part of such a great experience.
